FilePoint Wireless Edition’s explorer-like user interface lets Palm OS handheld users browse computers, network shares and network file folders just as you would from your desktop computer or laptop. A copy function allows users to copy documents and other files between shared network folders and the handhelds main memory or available expansion cards. Once on the handheld, FilePoint Wireless lets users open and edit their documents using Documents To Go.

Bachmann Restructures Software Product Lineup

In conjunction with the announced bundling arrangement with DataViz, Bachmann today introduced new versions of its FilePoint and Bachmann Mobile Utilities products, as follows.

• FilePoint Wireless Edition offers basic Windows Networking file access through wireless connections for handhelds and smartphones. FilePoint Wireless is made available for OEM licensing and is bundled with selected third party software, handhelds and accessories.
• FilePoint Premium Edition is Bachmann’s flagship file manager, and includes the networking capabilities of FilePoint Wireless as well as a full set of office features such as expansion card memory management, launching of programs, music and other file types from the handheld or expansion card, and rich folder organization capabilities.
• For users of non-wireless handhelds, FilePoint Desktop Edition enables features such as folder organization, expansion card management, and automatic file conversion from a Windows PC via the Palm HotSync cradle.

Finally, as part of today’s announcement, Bachmann introduced Bachmann Mobile Utilities v4.0 , which bundles together for the first time Bachmann’s popular PrintBoy, FilePoint, and Mobile Backup software products in a single powerful utility suite.
