Software Announces Partnership with Macmillan
Companies
to begin Marketing, Distribution of Popular PrintBoy Printing
Software for Handhelds
SPARTA, N.J.,
- February
7, 2001 - Bachmann Software & Services announced today that
it has partnered with Macmillan Software, the wholly-owned computer
software arm of Pearson Technology Group, to distribute a physical
version of Bachmann's PrintBoy™ software to the retail market.
Through this alliance,
Macmillan Software expands into the growing market for handheld
computer software applications, and Bachmann gains access to
invaluable retail channels for its products.
The companies' first
joint effort will be to market and distribute PrintBoy Version
2.2, one of the most popular printing software packages for
handhelds on the market today. Using infrared technology, PrintBoy
allows handheld users to print data from their handheld to a
printer without wires or hassles. Any handheld running on Palm
OS® Version 3.0 or higher can print calendars, e-mails, addresses,
to-do lists and memos by pointing the handhelds infrared port
at a printer's infrared port and clicking a single button on
the screen.
Macmillan and Bachmann
will begin distributing PrintBoy Version 2.2 (ISBN 1575954850)
this month. It will be available for purchase at retailers nationwide
at a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $19.95.
"Handhelds are great
tools, but it isn't easy to distribute information to coworkers
and friends by passing around a small, 3½-inch screen. PrintBoy
provides handheld computer users the convenience of producing
their information in a highly readable format, whenever they
need it," said Dan Reuvers, Bachmann's vice president of business
development. "Macmillan Software brings sales and distribution
expertise to this relationship, and we are pleased that more
people will have access to PrintBoy software as a result."
"Macmillan Software
is committed to exploring the most exciting areas of computing
technology, including applications for handheld computers. Bachmann
Software is developing applications that will thrill the 11
million people who live and die by their Palm-Powered™ handhelds,
and we are pleased to have a relationship with one of the premier
developers in this arena," said David Brinkworth, Macmillan
Software's vice president of sales.
